"Center Stage" is an enjoyable dance musical focusing on 3 ambitious dance students who attend the American Ballet Academy. It is cut-throat competition at the Academy as the students strive for perfection & only the best will survive & maybe one day achieve greatness.

Peter Gallagher is the prinicipal choregrapher of the Academy, who has the difficult task of deciding which students have the talent & which ones are there just for the ride.

The lead actress Amanda Schull is both beautiful & convincing in her role as Jody. Her & other cast members do a great job considering that most of them were chosen primarily for their dancing talents rather than their acting ability.

"Center Stage" features some vibrant dance sequences, in particular the explosive finale & is considered by many to be the ballet version of the popular 1980 dance classic "Fame". The success of "Center Stage" should see a resurgence of new dance musicals.
