* "Pump Up The Volume" grossed only $11.5 million in the United States on its initial cinema release but has since gone on the become a popular cult classic due to its subsequent video releases in the 1990s and DVD releases in the new millennium.

* Although the credits on "Pump Up The Volume" state "introducing Samantha Mathis" the film did not mark her first acting credit. Mathis had already starred in numerous TV productions and had also made an early film appearance in the 1989 thriller "Forbidden Sun" (aka Bulldance).

* Rumor has it that actor Christian Slater was required to do so much on-screen cigarette smoking in his role as Hard Harry that it literally made him physically ill.

* At the Seattle International Film Festival "Pump Up The Volume" won the "Golden Space Needle Award" for "Best Film".
