Freddie Prinze Jr. fresh from his starring role in "She's All That" & Julia Stiles fresh from her outstanding performance in "10 Things I Hate About You" come together in this romantic teen comedy. The two leads look great together & make a charming on screen couple, in this predictable college romance. Henry Winkler ( The Fonz ) does his best to inject some life into his small role of Freddie's Chef father, a cook on a popular TV show.
"Down To You" is the typical teen love story. Julia Stiles (Imogen) meets Freddie Prinze Jr. (Al Connely) They fall in love. They move in together. They sleep together. They argue. They seperate from each other. They change partners & eventually decide to give love a second chance.
The film has one very interesting comical interlude, it is a dream sequence featuring Winkler & Freddie Prinze Jr. as a father & son cooking team who storm houses & provide home cooked meals for poor hungry families. The sequence is called "Cooks" & is presented as a parody of the famous American TV show "Cops". The two cooks go house to house looking more like a couple of members of a police SWAT team than a meals on wheels service. It is really quite amusing & the scene would of fitted in nicely on a television sketch comedy.
"Down to You" is a good date movie & should appeal especially to young teenage girls. The two leads do their best with the material they have to work with. If you are a fan of the actors, why not give it a try.
