Introduced to movie audiences in Daredevil, Elektra Natchios (Jennifer Garner) was the love interest of the super heros alter ego, Matt Murdock. Adding another character to its increasing gallery of big screen heroes and anti-heroes, this Marvel Comics spin-off takes place after the events of Daredevil.
Brought back from the dead by her former mentor, Stick (Terence Stamp), who has dismissed her from his care because of a tragic past that has filled her with anger, Elektra becomes an assassin for hire. Her latest assignment is to kill a man, Mark Miller (Goran Visnjic) and his 13-year-old daughter, Abby (Kirsten Prout) whom she has just met and - against her better judgement - befriended.
Elektra decides to defend them against the Order of the Hand, a group of ninja assassins led by Kirigi (Will Yun Lee) whose deadly sidekicks include Typhoid Mary (Natassia Malthe), a life-sapping demon who can kill with a kiss or a touch, a human bulldozer known as Stone (Bob Sapp) and an illustrated man (Chris Ackerman) who is tattooed with a menagerie of wild animals that spring alarmingly to life from his body.
When Elektra discovers why The Hand is pursuing Mark and Abby she sees that their situation parallels her own life-changing experiences. Knowing that her decision to help them could destroy them all, she also realises that it may take her life in new directions and help her to find some kind of redemption.
