Rutger Hauer heads an all-star cast in this historical epic set in 15th century medieval Europe. Dutch filmmaker Paul Verhoeven uses spectacular locations & gritty realism to tell the story of a band of medieval mercenaries (led by Hauer) who take revenge on a noble Lord (Jack Thompson) by kidnapping his son's (Tom Burlinson) finance (Jennifer Jason Leigh) because the Lord refused to pay them. Often criticized for its excessive violence & explicit sex scenes, “Flesh + Blood” is certainly a graphic depiction of the dark ages where castles, battles, sex & the black plague all feature prominently in an epic story of love and honor.
