* Although he is known as John Stamos, his original Greek family name is Stamopolous. It was his grandparents who shortened the name to Stamos when they came to the United States from Greece.
* John's first major acting role was on the popular daytime TV show, "General Hospital". His stint on "General Hospital" lasted two years (1982/1983). During this period he won two "Soap Opera Digest Awards" and dated his co-star Demi Moore.
* In 1986 John Stamos starred in his first big screen film, the James Bond style adventure "Never Too Young To Die". His co-stars were pop singer turned actress Vanity and former James Bond star George Lazenby.
* In 1987 John Stamos began his 8 year run in the popular TV series "Full House". At John's request, the writers changed his character name from Jesse Cochran to Jesse Katsopolis, in order to highlight his Greek heritage.
* John Stamos dated his "Full House" co-star Lori Loughlin.
* In 1988 John Stamos played the bongo drums in The Beach Boys' "Kokomo" music video for the movie "Cocktail".
* In 1990 John was chosen by People magazine as one of the "50 Most Beautiful People in the world".
* In 1991 John starred in the WW II action/adventure flick "Born To Ride".
* In 1995 John appeared in a Broadway production of "How to succeed in Business Without Really Trying!". It gave John the opportunity to showcase his multitude of talent including acting, dancing and singing.
* In September 1998 John Stamos married Rebecca Romijn.
* John's televison career has continued throughout the 1990's & the New Millennium.
