FILM REVIEW :
Extreme violence & martial arts combine to make "Kiss of The Dragon" a must-see action thriller, possibly Jet Li's best Hollywood film. Jet displays outstanding martial artistry & in this one shows he is also an accomplished dramatic performer. Tcheky Karyo plays it over the top as a psychotic villain who kills everybody who stands in his way & Bridget Fonda is convincing as a troubled prostitute who you can't help but sympathise with.
The action sequences are breathtaking. There's an amazing scene with a billiard ball, a lavish French hotel gets destroyed, an exciting chase sequence in a glass boat on the Seine river & Jet battling it out with 2 blonde musclemen. There is even time for an explosive sequence reminiscent of Bruce Lee's "Fist of Fury" where Jet enters a martial arts training school & takes on the entire class, wiping them all out in true Bruce Lee style. After he's finished with them it looks as if a steamroller has been through the room.
Warning, due to the graphic nature of the violence in this film some viewers may find "Kiss of The Dragon" hard to stomach. The significance of the films title "Kiss of The Dragon" is revealed in its gruesome conclusion. Made on a budget of $25 million "Kiss of The Dragon" had a successful run at the US Box office grossing over $36 million. With this film Jet Li has broken into the mainstream & shows he has what it take to be the new "Bruce Lee".
