* Melissa is the oldest of 8 children. She has six sisters and one brother, Trisha, Elizabeth, Emily, Alexandra, Samantha, Mackenzie, and Brian.

* Melissa started acting in commercials at the age of four. Her first commercial was for a bathtub toy called "Splashy".

* Melissa's early acting interests were inspired by Shirley Temple and Audrey Hepburn.

* Melissa's mother, Paula, has been her agent throughout her career.

* It is believed that Melissa Joan Hart had a small role in the original  "Crocodile Dundee" (1986) but unfortunately her scenes were cut from the film.

* In 1989 Melissa performed in the off-Broadway play "Beside Herself" with Ally McBeal star Calista Flockhart and Academy Award winner William Hurt.

* In 1994 Melissa narrated an album for children titled "Peter and the Wolf" and also sung on the pop album "This Is What Na Na Means".

* Melissa got her big break in 1996 when she won the role of "Sabrina The Teenage Witch" in the ABC TV series.

* In 1997 Melissa Joan Hart auditioned for the title role in Adrian Lyne's "Lolita".

* In 1998 Melissa once again put her voice on a pop album, this time for "Sabrina, the Teenage Witch: The Album".

* Melissa and her mother run their own production company called "Hartbreak Films".
