Matt Lattanzi, dancer, turned actor and former husband of singer/actress Olivia Newton-John, makes his big screen starring debut in this romantic teen comedy. Matt plays a high school senior who is having trouble learning his French. His parents are concerned about his grades so they hire a French tutor to give him a few "lessons". However, the tutor just happens to to be an extremely good-looking sexy blonde (Caren Kaye). Matt is pleasantly suprised with his parent's choice of tutor and his French may be remedial, but his romance soon becomes advanced. Also, look out for Crispin Glover (George McFly from "Back To The Future") in a small role as Matt's buddy Jack.
Although billed as a teen sex comedy, "My Tutor" does have a little bit more to offer than other films in the genre, an attractive cast, the pupil teacher romance that is central to the story is actually reasonably well handled and the film even comes with a it's own original title song that adds early 80's period flavor. "My Tutor" was made on a small budget but still managed to clock up a neat $22.6 million at the US box office. For those of you who are wondering what happend to Matt Lattanzi after this film, well for one, he married superstar Olivia-Newton John, had a daughter, divorced Olivia & apart from a handful of small parts in minor films he still managed to star in a short-lived TV series in Australia titled "Paradise Beach" (1993 - 1994).
