Andie (Molly Ringwald) lives with her unemployed father Jack (Harry Dean Stanton) in a poor neighbourhood. Life has been difficult since Andie's mother left them. Andie's best friend, Duckie (Jon Cryer) is secretly in love with her. The plot intensifies when Andie meets & falls in love with rich kid, Blaine (Andrew McCarthy).

"Pretty In Pink" features a good soundtrack & one of the film's highlights is Jon Cryer lip-synching in the record store to Otis Redding's "Try A Little Tenderness". The drama in the film is complemented by many comedic moments, look out for comedian Andrew "Dice" Clay in a small role as a bouncer.
