"Quigley Down Under" is a western like no other; a fish out of water story set in the beautiful Australian outback and filmed on location in the Northern Territory and Victoria. Tom Selleck plays American sharpshooter Matt Quigley who is hired to come to Australia because he is the best marksman in the business, able to hit long distance targets with ease. Little does he know, however, that ruthless land baron Elliot Marston, played with menace by Alan Rickman wants him to use his skill to kill aborigines. When Selleck refuses, a deadly edge-of-your-seat, cat-and-mouse conflict erupts. Veteran director Simon Wincer (Free Willy, The Phantom, Lightning Jack, Dundee In LA) has come up with a unique vision of the Australian west. "Quigley Down Under" features first-rate performances, well stage action sequences, a top-notch music score, a frighteningly realistic portrayal of the mistreatment of aborigines and some of the most breathtaking scenery ever seen in a western. If it is western entertainment you're after, "Quigley Down Under" will certainly deliver the goods.
