Film Review :
"The Last Starfighter" is a fun, science-fiction fantasy, that can be enjoyed by all ages. A young teenager, Alex Rogan (Lance Guest), lives in a caravan park with his mother. He spends all of his spare-time playing a video game called The Starfighter. Alex's video-game skills approach genius level, when he reaches the final stage of the Starfighter game & wins. As a result, he is visited by Centauri (Robert Preston in his last screen role), an alien from another world,  who recruits him to save the universe from destruction by rebel invaders.

The film was released at a time when arcade games were all the rage & the "Star Wars" movies were big box office. "The Last Starfighter" capitalised on both markets, becoming a successful film not only with Sci-Fi fans but also with the critics. The special effects & alien creatures are outstanding & the movie has developed a cult status.  Watch Alex as he is whisked away into space to take part in an inter-galactic war, where he becomes "The Last Starfighter" & a hero of the universe.
