"The Sweetest Thing" Tony's Comments:
"The Sweetest Thing" is "Sex In The City" for the big screen. It focuses on three single girls living in San Francisco who simply enjoy having fun. They do the dating thing, hit the dance club scene, shop for clothes and gatecrash weddings. Just like the spirited dance sequences, "The Sweetest Thing" bubbles with energy, Diaz and Applegate are full of life and by the looks of the outtakes during the end credits the cast had a great time making it. "Cruel Intentions" director Robert Kumble keeps things moving at a fast pace with plenty of raunchy gags and "Deep Blue Sea" star Thomas Jane makes for an interesting casting choice as Diaz's love interest. After a long absence "The Sweetest Thing" marks the return of "Teen Wolf Too" star Jason Bateman to the big screen. See if you can spot the film spoofs of "Grease", "Pretty Woman", "Flashdance", "Desperately Seeking Susan" and "Dumb And Dumber" during the dress shop dance montage. Also, look out for Johnathon Schaech (That Thing You Do!) in the opening night club scene. If you are looking for a light-hearted film about sex, dating and romance, new millennium-style, "The Sweetest Thing" is just your ticket.
