"Young Guns" is a story about a bunch of young homeless cowboys who are taken in by a British gentleman, John Tunstall (Terence Stamp). He tries to educate them, teaching them to read & write & to treat each other with respect. In return the young men are to guard him & his ranch from local outlaws.
When their master, Stamp, is murdered by the ruthless Jack Palance & his thugs, the boys are left to fend for themselves, under the influence of William Bonney (Emilio Estevez), who later becomes known as, Billy The Kid, one of the most famous outlaws of the American West. At first, all they want, is to avenge the death of their master, but in doing so they end up taking the law into their own hands & become notorious outlaws.
Billy's gang features some of the hottest young stars of the 1980's, Estevez, Sheen, Phillips & Sutherland & given their popularity at the time, this film was assured of success. It was a worldwide smash hit & later spawned a sequel. Look out for Patrick Wayne, son of the famous American icon John Wayne, in a small role.
"Young Guns" is the 80's version of the legendary Billy The Kid tale. The Story may not be told exactly by the book, but it is nevertheless a thrilling, shoot-em-up piece of western entertainment.
