"Swimfan" Cinema Synopsis:
A one-night stand has deadly consequences in Swimfan from Australian director, John Polson. Although there may be a twist of Fatal Attraction here, Polson also brings his own style to the film, which he describes as a thriller that happens to be about teens, not a teen thriller. Its a difference that sets it apart from those slasher flicks in which most of the young cast gets done in.
Jesse Bradford (Clockstoppers) plays Ben Cronin, the guy whos got it all until one bad move turns his good life sour. Before things go wrong, Ben is one of the most popular guys at his high school where he has a promising swimming career and is in the fast lane for an athletic scholarship. In Amy Miller (Shiri Appleby), he also has a great girlfriend and between training for a major upcoming swimming event and working at the local hospital, Ben tries to find as much time as he can to be with her.
Madison Bell (Erika Christensen), a new girl in town, has other plans for Ben who catches her eye the moment she arrives. Innocent friendship is not what Madison has in mind and when reliable, rock-solid Ben gives in one time only to her seductive ways it is one time too many.
In much the same unbalanced way that Kathy Bates devoted reader was the No. 1 fan of James Caans author in Misery, the mad Madison becomes Bens psychotic swimfan and turns his life into a nightmare. Its an obsession that goes out of control and leads to murder.
