"Van Wilder" Cinema Synopsis:
Van Wilder might be starting his seventh year at Coolidge College, but graduation is the furthest thing from his mind. Armed with a personal assistant and a coterie of admirers, Van has reached the status of living legend on campus, throwing bashes that make geeks popular, raise money for charity and generally 'inspire the uninspired.' But when Van's father refuses to pay any more of his son's tuition bills, Van must turn to party planning for profit in order to continue living in under-graduate bliss, thereby becoming the subject of an exposé by disapproving school journalist Gwen Pearson (Tara Reid, American Pie). What begins as a clash of wills, however, soon leads to unexpected romance as Van and Gwen both realize they have a lot to learn from each other. The only problem: Gwen's self-obsessed, frat house boyfriend, Richard, who's determined, at any cost, to put a stop to Van's rule as campus king.

The college comedy is back, in the grand tradition of "National Lampoon's Animal House" comes "National Lampoon's Van Wilder". In this film comedy has a new star, Ryan Reynolds, who resembles a young Chevy Chase, plays "Van Wilder" a college student who spends his days driving around campus in a golf buggy and barely attends class. Throwing parties is Van's expertise and graduation is the furthest thing from his mind. To add to the fun newcomer Kal Penn plays Taj, an Indian-American student who gets a job as Van's assistant. "Van Wilder" takes chances with its comedy and leaves no stone unturned. It is rude, crude and vulgar. It moves at a fast-pace from one toilet joke to the next, containing its fair share of gross-out gags, including a scene that might make you never want to eat sweet pastries again. It may shock and disgust some viewers but then again others will howl with laughter. The support cast is like a who's who of old teen movie favourites. Tim Matheson of "Animal House" fame play's Van's dad. Curtis Armstrong, better known as Booger from the "Revenge Of The Nerds" series plays the college campus security guard. Paul Gleason from "The Breakfast Club" plays Van's teacher. Tom Everett Scott from "That Thing You Do" plays the head of the college newspaper. Even "Chips" star Erik Estrada drops by in a quick cameo. Will Van Wilder finally graduate from college after spending nearly 7 years there? Will Van Wilder fall in love with the cute college newspaper girl, played by American Pie's Tara Reid? All will be revealed at the end of this riotous college comedy. One thing is for sure "National Lampoon's Van Wilder" is destined to become a cult classic with teens and a new comedy star has arrived in the form of Ryan Reynolds. "Van Wilder" fans make sure you stay for the outtakes during the end credits.
