"Wonderful Life" was Cliff Richard's third starring role after, "The Young Ones" and "Summer Holiday". Like the two earlier films this romantic musical comedy features plenty of song and dance routines, good use of scenic locations and loads of light-hearted British comedy. "Wonderful Life's" plotline involves a group of young drifters attempting to make a movie but this is secondary to the musical numbers, that are well staged and full of life. The film's major standout musical sequence is the performance of the classic rock n roll dance number "On The Beach" by Cliff Richard and The Shadows. Yes, that's right, the number is performed "On The Beach" just like the song says, and with a group of energetic dance extras, complete with 1960's beachwear. Also, look out for The Shadows' performance of "Theme For Young Lovers", a guitar melody that was written by Bruce Welch. Filmed on location in the beautiful Canary Islands, "Wonderful Life" is a marvellous time capsule of 1960's fashion and sound led by charismatic rock n roller Cliff Richard.
