In xXx, the spy thriller gets Diesel power. The result is the kind of high velocity action that you would expect in a movie that reunites the star, director and producer of box office winner, The Fast and the Furious. Vin Diesel plays Xander (XXX) Cage, an extreme sports athlete whose notorious thrill-seeking pranks have so far managed to keep him out of the laws reach. But they catch up with him following a stunt involving the destruction of a senators Corvette that Cage drives off a bridge - brazenly having the event videotaped for his own website! Xander is threatened with prison by Augustus Gibbons (Samuel L Jackson), a guy from the National Security Agency, unless he puts his thrill-seeking skills to work for his country. It seems there is this wild and crazy guy called Yorgi (Marton Csokas), a former Soviet soldier who now heads the Prague-based Anarchy 99 - a group of terrorists who want to topple the worlds governments. To achieve this they have a nasty little item called Silent Night, a biological weapon that they are about to unleash. NSA spies have not been able to get close enough to find out what Yorgi is up to, but Gibbons believes Xander will be able to rush in where others have feared to tread. After he has shown what he can do during a test run, he ends up in Prague
and is soon in the company of Yorgi, contriving a deal for stolen cars as his entrée. Yorgis girlfriend, Yelena (Asia Argento) is also part of the team. She spells danger and likes to think she wants nothing to do with this American with attitude. They are made for each other. Coined as a nickname for Xander because of the large triple-x tattooed across his shoulders, the title, xXx could just as easily stand for x-treme. In its action sequences, this is a movie that does not hold back, leaving little time to give its audience a breather between each heart-stopper, topped by Xanders ski board plunge down a mountain pursued by nothing less than a thundering avalanche!
