Tony's Comments :
"The Fast & The Furious" is an adrenaline charged action film, full of explosive stunt work & star making performances from relative newcomers Paul Walker & Vin Diesel. It should appeal to a broader audience then Stallone's "Driven" which centred on professional car racing. The car chases in this one are on real streets in gritty urban locations. The plot line is similar to the Patrick Swayze / Keanu Reeves actioner "Point Break" only this time set against the backdrop of high-speed street car racing rather than surfing. Paul Walker plays Brian, an undercover cop who infiltrates a gang who are suspected of committing a series of highway robberies using high performance streetcars. A subplot involves Walker falling in love with the gang leader's sister.

"The Fast and The Furious" has become one of the success stories of 2001. Made on a budget of $38 million it has gone on to gross more than $144 million in the US alone. In America the film made its money back in the first weekend of release, grossing over $40 million. The film has also proved to be successful in other parts of the world including the UK & Australia. The car stunts in this film are amazing to say the least, so fasten your seatbelts before you watch this one because you'll be in for the ride of life. The flashy combination of fast cars & spectacular action sequences should capture the attention of any young male filmgoer. "The Fast & The Furious" is an entertaining piece of escapism, if you can handle the petrol fumes.
